Dodge is returning to the NASCAR Cup Series in 2027, one year earlier than originally expected.

The Stellantis-owned brand announced Monday at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas that it will rejoin the sport, giving NASCAR four manufacturers alongside Chevrolet, Ford and Toyota.

Kaulig Racing will field a two-car team using the Dodge Charger. An official driver announcement is planned for NASCAR's championship weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway. AJ Allmendinger and Ty Dillon are expected to continue as drivers. The Athletic's Jordan Bianchi, who first reported this story, said the team will also has a third part-time car in 2027, including at the Daytona 500.

Dodge last competed in the Cup Series in 2012, the same year Brad Keselowski and Penske Racing won the championship. It was the manufacturer's first Cup Series title since Richard Petty won his sixth championship in 1975.

"Dodge's return to the NASCAR Cup Series is a significant milestone for the sport," NASCAR CEO Steve O'Donnell said. "This commitment speaks to Dodge's belief in our sport and gives fans another reason to be excited about what's ahead."
